Call for Papers: Managing and Teaching European Studies - What can we learn about ourselves?
09 Jan 2019
During the Intensive Programme 2019 in Olomouc, a scholar conference will be organized by Euroculture to encourage reflection on European Studies programmes, curricula, students, and management.
In everyday teaching and managing of study programmes, there is often little time for reflection. Decisions about course content, or major programmatic and organizational decisions must be taken quite quickly. However, there are some issues in need of deeper reflection. For example, what is the implicit curriculum being used? What assumptions guide teaching and programme design? What does the student body look like, how has its composition changed over the years, and how to deal with these changes? What teaching techniques are used, and which ones are most promising?
These are only some of a plethora of questions that can be addressed and reflected upon. Papers and presentations dealing with the long-term questions of managing and teaching European studies are welcome.
The aim of the conference is to encourage a dialogue among those who teach and administer European studies programmes, to take a step back from day-to-day work and reflect upon their strategies, practices and philosophies.
If interested, please submit your paper proposal by 1 February 2019. Paper abstract (300 words max. + paper title + 5 keywords + a short bio) are to be sent electronically in pdf format to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 1 February, 2019, 23:59 CET time.
