The IP2026 Social Programme

Monday (19:00-22:00): Movie night: R.M.N. (dir. Cristian Mungiu)

The IP includes an evening film screening followed by a guided discussion with special guest Parisa Zandbaf. R.M.N. engages directly with the themes at the heart of this year's programme: belonging, community, and the tensions between care and conflict in contemporary Europe. The synopsis of the film is as follows:

Matthias walks off his job at a slaughterhouse in Germany and returns to his small multi-ethnic village in Transylvania just before Christmas, reconnecting with his young son, his partner, and a former lover who manages the local bakery. When the bakery hires two Sri Lankan workers to fill jobs no locals will take, the village erupts. What follows is a slow, precise dissection of a community tearing itself apart over who belongs and who doesn't, while everyone involved, Matthias included, has their own private failures they'd rather not face.

The screening is part of the IP programme and will take place in the Van der Leeuwzaal in the Academy Building.
